The Mt Olympus Ski Club, otherwise known as the Windwhistle Winter Sports Club (WWSC) was founded in 1932. The club began with ice-skating at Lake Ida, and then in 1948 chose Mt Olympus as the closer of two potential nearby ski-field sites. The site for the bottom hut was chosen in the same year, and a mere four years later the main rope tow was installed. In typical "can-do" club style, this was carried the last stretch of the road from Moncks Flat in one piece by ten men and two women.
Since its origins, the club has prided itself on its 'can-do' attitude, its friendliness, and social atmosphere. Members of the club patrol the field, man the main-tow on the weekends, help upgrade and maintain club facilities by attending working bees, and generally lend a helping hand whenever needed.
