The Top Hut.Situated at 1620 metres (5315 feet) above sea level, the Top Hut is probably the highest accommodation in New Zealand. It is definitely home to New Zealand's highest hot tub!
Fully insulated and centrally heated with separate areas for day visitors and staying visitors, the Top Hut is purpose-built as a fully self-contained alpine lodge. Staying at the Top Hut is all about mixing with visitors and locals alike, pitching in and helping the staff do what needs to be done and enjoying the legendary atmosphere and hospitality that Mt Olympus is renowned for. 2014 saw the completion of four years' work by club members and the Top Hut now offers the following to skiers visiting Mt Olympus:

Staying at the Top Hut.The Top Hut can accommodate guests on a single night, weekend or weekly basis during the ski season. Guests are required to book in advance to secure their bed for the night. If you want to stay overnight at Mt Olympus, please book in early as space can be scarce.
Those who have earned season's passes by doing work parties (members only) have preseason booking priority. Next priority goes to Work Party Levy paying members, then non-members can book. Guests on ski week packages are expected to assist the staff with light cleaning and kitchen duties which will be rostered. The Top Hut and Bottom Huts are available during the winter for groups such as schools, tramping clubs and universities, dependent on availability. |
