Curling at the Playground of the Gods 2026

W.W.S.C. Mt Olympus Tarnspiel Curling Day – Saturday, 8 August 2026

Get ready for another unforgettable Mt Olympus Tarnspiel Curling Day with the W.W.S.C.! Join us on Saturday, 8 August 2026 for a unique curling event held on the alpine tarn at 1,800 metres above sea level, high above the Mt Olympus Ski Area.

Whether you're a seasoned curler or trying it for the first time, everyone is welcome. Arrive with a team or come on your own-we'll help place you in one. Fancy dress isn't required, but it's all part of the fun, so feel free to get creative! Bring your friends and family along for a fantastic day in the mountains, with activities suitable for all ages. While you need to be able to ski and use rope tows to get up to the Tarn, for the non-skiers, we are running helicopter lifts up from the Bottom Hut (and back at the end) so everyone can come along for day!

On the day:

• Team registrations close at 11:00am.
• If you're not part of a team, simply sign up when you arrive and we'll find you some teammates.
• Helicopter transfers to the tarn begin from Bottom Hut Time TBC. Click  HERE  to book your spot in the helicopter.
• Picnic lunches (hot soup and a sandwich) can be pre-ordered by emailing info@mtolympus.co.nz and will be delivered to the tarn.
• Prefer to eat at Top Hut? Full lunch options are available there- just place your order by 11:00am.
• Refreshments, affectionately known as "Cold Soup," will be available for purchase at the tarn, so be sure to bring cash.
• Weather postponment day will be Sunday 9th August
